💛 The Story Behind "Ben and the Hamster" 

When I began self-publishing my first two devotional books through collaboration, my son was only 8 years old. He often watched me sit at my computer writing, editing, and working on my books. One day, out of the blue, he looked at me and said, "Mommy, I want to be an author too."

As a mom and a writer, those words meant so much to me.

I told him that if he wanted to be an author, he could start by writing a simple story. It didn't take him long to decide what he wanted to write about.

Our family once had a hamster named Jack. He may have been small, but he brought so much joy into our home. My son loved him dearly. When Jack passed away, it was hard for him. He missed his little friend and often talked about the fun memories they shared.

Out of those memories came an idea.

Using his imagination and his love for Jack, he created a story about friendship, adventure, and the special bond between a child and a pet. That story eventually became Ben and the Hamster by my son, Ylijah.

This book is more than just a children's story. It's the beginning of a young boy's dream, inspired by a pet he loved and the belief that stories can bring smiles to others.

We hope Ben and the Hamster encourages children to use their imagination, enjoy reading, and discover that even the smallest ideas can grow into something wonderful. This book is written by my son, Ylijah, when he was only eight years old.
